We would like to explain the terms "Host Family","AuPair" and "Agency".
So you can get a short overview of tasks of each party:
|
| Host Family |
some few tasks of a host family:
In different countries there are different things a host family must provide. But if you want to host an AuPair you must offer him/her a "minimum":
treat the AuPair as a family member, not as an employee
give the AuPair a stipend
an own room with accomodation and free meals
give the AuPair time off - at least one day per week
your benefits from hosting the AuPair:
you get (more) free time which you can use for your interests while an AuPair is looking after your children
your family get in touch with other countries and cultures. Your children learn to interact with people of foreign nations
you can do your job and you need not to worry about your children
|
| AuPair |
requirement on AuPair:
big help in childcare:
get children to the kindergarden or school
bring the kids to bed and help them by washing and clothing
play with the children and read books with them
help in household:
cook simple meals for kids
tidy up kid's room
assist you at ironing, washing and shopping
setting the table, etc...
|
| Agency |
An agency takes over a contact "role" between AuPair and the Host Family.
If something goes wrong, an aupair agency is your partner in those cases. You should comission an agency to find an appropriate AuPair or Host Family
for you. There are many agencies providing aupair service and their performances really differ - the ones afford a super service, the others are not so expensive.
You've got the choice.
